I've been receiving many questions on Low-level Laser Treatment (aka Cold Laser), and it's many uses for musculoskeletal pain relief. Since this is one technique we use in our office, I want to spend some time discussing what it is, the benefits and conditions that we have seen success in helping. The body has the power to heal itself; cold laser is a powerful tool in assisting this process when needed.
What is Cold Laser Treatment?
Cold Laser Treatment is an FDA approved, safe and painless treatment modality using penetrating light to relieve pain, reduce inflammation and promote soft tissue repair.
What are the benefits to Cold Laser Treatment for musculoskeletal conditions?
Cold Laser Treatments have no known side-effects, and invasive surgery is not required. It is used to treat both acute and chronic conditions, and pain relief is often felt immediately. It helps in reduction of inflammation, improves nerve function and enhances the speed of tissue repair.
What conditions benefit from Cold Laser Therapy?
Cold Laser Therapy can dramatically reduce the pain associated with the following:
•Low Back Pain/Sciatica
•Bulging, Fused or Slipped Discs of the neck and back
•Knee & Foot Pain
•Post Surgical Recovery
•Sprains & Strains
•Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
•Headaches, including migraines
•Many other joint/muscle/inflammatory conditions
Are medications or surgery required?
Are there any side effects or associated risks?
There are no known side effects or associated risks. Areas of inflammation may be sensitive briefly before pain reduction.
How many treatments does it take, and how often should I get treated?
The number of treatments depends on the severity and duration of the condition. Also, the level of pain the patient is experiencing will help decide how often treatments will take place.
What can I expect during an initial consultation?
An initial consultation will include a full evaluation of your condition including a health history and examination in order to determine if Cold Laser Therapy will help to decrease pain and assist your body in the healing process.
